  1. re Crystal’s Palace at Jake’s corner Yukon Territory: named in memory of one of his daughter’s, Crystal, who was run over on site at young age. Jake deteriorated after that, eventually becoming loosely connected to consensual reality. His son Ray took over for a spell but it was not his thing so it was sold to an old time Yukon couple, Dave and Loreen Gilbert who ran it for a number of years and used it to display his collection of old machines and Yukon devices. The Chaykowski and Gilbert families intermarried with Joanne C. marrying Jeff Gilbert, and live an off grid life with a saw mill. A transplanted retired farm family from Alberta took it on and have it to date, although they are selling it to bidders since building their own place on a separate property near by. The pool was used during local parties, but damn was is cold, even after 3 or 4 cords of wood heating over several days. Once the pool was left empty it cracked and the foundation became somewhat unstable. It had a beautiful view from the upstairs cafe. It was replaced with a newer building near the pumps that still operates as a diner and gas bar. Just some local gossip and history update.

    • My old neighbour- a strange old lady who had a dogsled in her living room, was from the Yukon. Her name was Zaykowski. Interesting similarity to names. Wonder if there was any relation! (This was Ontario!)

  2. This design is steller! You most certainly know how to keep a reader amused.

Between your wit and your videos, I was almost moved to start my own blog (well, almost…HaHa!) Excellent job.
I really enjoyed what you had to say, and more than that, how you presented it.
    Too cool!
